ROBOTIC KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY

ROBOTIC KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY

Robotic knee replacement surgery, also known as robot-assisted knee replacement, is an advanced surgical technique that combines the expertise of a surgeon with the precision and guidance of a robotic system. It involves the use of a robotic arm, specialized software, and imaging technology to assist in performing knee replacement surgery. At ONUS ROBOTIC HOSPITALS, we endeavour to uplift the quality of life with Robotic-assisted surgeries. We are currently using the CUVIS JOINT Robot which is the world's first Active Robotic system with unrivaled features. Its simplicity, accuracy, flexibility, and safety make it truly exceptional. The system's advanced capabilities result in reduced blood loss, smaller incisions, and faster recovery. Early rehabilitation allows for early discharge from the hospital, improving the overall quality of life for patients. The revolutionary surgical procedure ensures better outcomes and enhanced patient well-being.

Know Your Surgeon

Dr. Balaraju Naidu is an internationally trained Robotic Joint Replacement Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Naidu is trained extensively in joint replacements and has worked in various countries like UK, ITALY, GERMANY and FRANCE. Dr. Balaraju Naidu has always excelled in his academia. He has been a Prathibha Awardee. Dr.Naidu has graduated MS(Ortho ) and MBBS from Gandhi Hospital, Gandhi Medical College. He also passed DNB-Orthopaedics. He has completed Advanced Management Program in Healthcare at Indian School of Business for providing best healthcare practices to his patients on par with International standards. It has always been his endeavour to make a difference in arthritis patients life and to restore their mobility. It undertakes personalised preplanning approach to deliver utmost accuracy and safety at the same time. Better implant positioning and alignment with much lower chances of human error or Soft tissue injuries help patienst with early rehabilitiation and mobility to increase overall post-operative satisfaction.

What is Robotic Knee Replacement with Cuvis Joint?

In knee replacement surgery, the arthritic portion of the knee is removed and replaced by an artificial joint that forms the new surface of the knee joint. During Cuvis Joint Robot total knee replacement, surgeons use computed tomography (CT) scans to build a 3D model of the patient's knee. With that Virtual model as a guide, the surgeon then uses the robotic arm to make accurate bone cuts and  insert the knee components precisely.

How are Robots helping in knee replacement surgery?

With the new research and advancements in day-to-day technology we have seen huge advancements in robotics in healthcare and the development of these robotics in the field of joint replacement has been phenomenal in providing better treatment to the patient with advance precision cuts and preventing any damage to surrounding area. Robotic-assisted procedures allow greater precision and can lead to shorter recovery time with better results.

Who requires Knee Replacement Surgery?

Robotic knee replacement surgery is typically recommended for individuals who require knee replacement and meet certain criteria. This may include individuals with severe osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis causing significant pain and mobility limitations:

  • Post-traumatic arthritis resulting from a knee injury.
  • Unsuccessful outcomes from previous knee surgeries.
  • Complex knee deformities or anatomical considerations that pose challenges for conventional surgery.
  • Individuals seeking enhanced precision and customization in their knee replacement procedure.
  • Patients desiring faster recovery, reduced blood loss, and smaller incisions.
  • Individuals looking for improved implant placement and alignment for better long-term outcomes.
  • Patients who want to minimize the risk of injury to surrounding tissues and reduce the chance of infection.
  • Those who wish to benefit from early rehabilitation and shorter hospital stays.
  • Individuals seeking an advanced surgical option that combines the expertise of the surgeon with the precision of robotic technology.

Advantages of Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery?

  • More accurate cuts and implant placement.
  • Reduced risk of injury to adjacent tissues.
  • Lower Blood Loss and smaller incisions help in quicker recovery.
  • Early Rehabilitation leads to early incisions, helps in quicker recovery.
  • Improved quality of life.

How Robotic assisted Joint Replacement is better than the conventional TKR Method?

Robotic-assisted joint replacement offers precision and enhanced outcomes compared to conventional TKR (Total Knee Replacement). Robotics enable surgeons to plan and execute procedures with greater accuracy, leading to improved implant alignment, reduced tissue damage, faster recovery, and increased longevity of joint replacements, ultimately benefiting patients' overall quality of life.
